Akearah A. has been singing since she was a child and has always found joy in using music to connect with others. Throughout high school, she was a member of the chorale program, where she continued to develop her vocal abilities. Her dedication to music has earned her scholarship opportunities, and she has performed in numerous musicals and stage productions. Her favorite production to perform in was How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, where she discovered a love for musical theater and storytelling through song.

As a voice instructor, Akearah is passionate about helping students of all ages and skill levels build confidence, strengthen their technique, and find their unique voice in a welcoming and encouraging environment. Outside of teaching, she enjoys serving her community, mentoring young people, and continuing to grow as both a performer and educator. She believes music is a powerful tool for self expression, confidence, and lifelong growth. 

Annie S. has had a passion for music since she began playing piano at the age of 6. She has taught piano and percussion for 6 years and has participated in symphony orchestras, pit orchestras, and various instrumental and vocal ensembles in high school and college. She has experience in piano, classical percussion, vocal, and pipe organ. She has always found great joy in music and loves to pass this joy on to her students. Annie’s favorite pastimes include reading, hiking, discovering new music, and playing with her cat. 

Grace G. is a lyric soprano who recently earned her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Michigan State University. She has performed in both opera and musical theatre, bringing a wide range of artistic experience to her teaching. Grace’s recent roles include Petra in Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music, Woman Two in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, and Musetta in Puccini’s La Boheme with SERIO Opera.
Grace’s favorite past roles include Donna in Mamma Mia! and Fantine in Les Misérables with BAM Theatre. She has been teaching voice and piano for several years and is passionate about helping young singers build confidence, develop healthy vocal technique, and discover the joys of making music. Grace strives to create a fun, encouraging environment where every student can grow as both a musician and a performer.

Lyudmila G. is a versatile musician and dedicated educator with a strong background in classical performance. Trained as a violinist and pianist, she brings deep musical understanding and expressive artistry to her teaching. She has over 14 years of experience performing in orchestras and chamber ensembles, as well as teaching students of various ages and levels. Lyudmila is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Violin Performance at the College of Music in Michigan.

Although her education is rooted in classical traditions, Lyudmila has a special passion for rock music—especially songs with expressive vocals—and for film music. She also enjoys composing her own pieces. Having visited more than ten countries, she draws inspiration from diverse cultures and musical traditions.

Beyond music, Lyudmila loves reading scientific literature, baking delicious treats (especially lemon cookies), spending time with her daughter, and admiring cats. She enjoys exploring beautiful things—in art, nature, and everyday life—and brings this sense of curiosity and wonder into her teaching.

Jeremy B. grew up immersed in music, participating in band, choir, and private guitar lessons at 10 years old. He graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Professional Music and a focus on Guitar Performance/Music Production. Since graduating, he has toured the United States and Canada in various punk and metal bands. He teaches guitar and bass in any styles or techniques a student may be interested in. He believes there is no singular approach to learning and strives to curate lessons to assist the student's needs individually.

Melissa C. is a Lansing, Michigan-born native with over 20 years of experience as a professional recording artist, songwriter, musician, and producer. She has received her double associate's degree in music (GA) and music education and will soon continue her studies in music education. She has a background in classical vocal performance and more popular genres and has taught voice lessons for the past seven years. Outside of music, she enjoys time with her family, traveling, and shopping. 

Ann B. is a Detroit-born musician, piano teacher, artist, and writer. She began her professional performance career as a young child and continues to perform all over Michigan. Deeply passionate about every child in music lessons, Ms. Bell is an award-winning piano teacher who has taught many voices to sing and play throughout her 25-year career. She loves her students and audiences "more than space!" 

Cat H. has been a professional musician for forty years and teaches Piano, Voice, Guitar, and Ukulele at Okemos Music Academy. Cat has performed a variety of types of music. In addition, she has been a teacher for twenty-two years and has taught privately in Lansing and Ann Arbor.  She holds several degrees in Music Education, Secondary English, Montessori education, and Curriculum and Instruction. Cat grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and lives in Lansing, Michigan.

Shelby S. has over 15 years of experience in musical performance. She started taking private music lessons at the age of 7 and went on to pursue music production in college. She earned her degree in Arts and Humanities from Michigan State University, with a focus on music. When she isn't performing or writing, she can be found drawing, playing board/video games, and caring for her houseplants. 

Susan F. has been playing the piano since 4th grade and has been teaching Piano and Voice since 1979. She holds a bachelor’s degree in piano proficiency. Susan coordinates music at her church, has accompanied various school choirs, assisted students in vocal competitions, and has played the piano for various musical productions and choirs. She strives to inspire her students to excel. Susan loves gardening, baking, and spending time with her family in her spare time.
